Dear Friends,

Brian Our story is one that begins with tragedy. But it ends with hope. On June 26, 1992 a car crossed the median and crashed into the vehicle that Brian Lanier, my only child, was driving. For three days my son fought for his life. And then he died. They say the most devastating thing that can happen to a parent is losing a child. I know this to be true. There’s a part of me that will be in pain for the rest of my life. There is also a part of me, a stronger part, that is determined to give Brian’s life an enduring meaning, even beyond the love of his family. That’s why my husband and I created the Brian Christopher Lanier Wings of Hope Foundation.

Brian was a 19-year-old who cared deeply about others. During his short life, Brian touched many people with his compassion and friendship. He especially had a heart for children who didn’t have a safe and loving home environment. Often he would bring troubled teens to our home, and once he even hid a runaway in our house! Brian said the same thing to me each time, “but, Mom, they need a chance at a better life.” That’s what Wings of Hope is about – continuing Brian’s spirit of reaching out to needy children with compassion, caring about them, and taking action to make things better for them.

We are very grateful for all of you who have supported us by your generous donations, your participation in our events, and your much-needed prayers. Let’s continue to pray for all children to have: Wings – the strength of an eagle, the guidance of an angel, the new life of a butterfly and Hope – the opportunities they need to make their lives better.
