Giving Report November 2013
Your Donations at Work November 2013
During the third quarter of 2013, $17,681.00 was given to assist at-risk children and young adults who have “aged out” of the system in Volusia, Seminole, Orange and Osceola Counties.
Details are listed below, but first we wanted to let you know how your donations positively impact the youth in our community and particularly the following young person:
Janna has been in foster care since she was 14 years old, taken from her home because her Mom not only abused her, but also prostituted her. As can be expected, Janna had behavioral issues as she went through a series of foster home and group home placements and was at a high risk of dropping out of school because of poor grades. About a year ago, with the support, encouragement and counseling provided by Children’s Home Society, Janna decided to set goals for herself so she could get her GED and go on to college. With each small step and accomplishment, she became more focused on her goals and began to gain the self-confidence she needed to reach toward her next goal. Janna’s participation in the WingsNet program motivated her to continue her education where she is currently enrolled at Daytona State College. Janna is very thankful for the assistance she received through WingsNet which provided funds for many of her educational needs — books, fees, supplies, tools, and more. WingsNet will continue to be there for Janna, to help her gain more independence and the ability to support herself in the future.
Thanks Wings supporters – together we change lives!
